A Bahamas trip looks like the best thing in fishing right now.

After a few weeks of rough sea conditions here off our local coast a trip over to Bimini might be the answer. It looks as if the wind is going to subside on Monday for a few days. Anglers that have traveled the 56 miles to clear customs and fish for wahoo have been overly successful up by Great Isaacs Light which is roughly 15 miles north of Bimini. Isaacs is one of the most consistent areas to fish for wahoo because the bottom contour really holds fish. You can travel along the edge trolling and go from 100 feet of water to 600 feet of water in seconds. Baitfish love to school up on the edge which makes it a perfect ambush point for big wahoo like this one in the picture. People fish mostly lures at high speed but the fish in the picture was caught on bait. Ballyhoo and bonito strips are great trolling baits for the wahoo. The only downside to trolling baits is the bycatch of barracuda. Some days we will catch 5 cuda to one wahoo. Wahoo fishing will stay good in most Bahama islands for the next several months. Reach out at any time and we can give you the Bahama report as we go quite often. Also don't even try to go over and not clear customs. Clearing customs is the law and not taken lightly. Not clearing can result in huge fines and or loss of your vessel.
Locally the fishing has been relatively slow with not many people getting out due to the rough seas. The sailfish bite was mediocre over the last week with tournament boats catching fish but not in high numbers. We are hoping for good fishing this week and are excited to run offshore.
