Choose between swordfish, snook and wahoo this weekend.

Starting along the beach, the snook bite was off the chain again this week. We are getting the trickle of a mullet run but it is not in full force yet. Pictured here with a snook is Jason Gascoyne with a beautiful fish from earlier this week. We should see the mullet run upon the next arrival of a stronger northeast wind flow. Lots of anglers who target snook are really surprised that this mullet push has not happened yet.
Out on the reef several wahoo in the 20 to 30 pound range were caught this week. All of the fish were being caught while trolling planers with bonito strips for bait. We still have quite a few small blackfin tuna around which is keeping the wahoo here. Wahoo love to eat baby blackfin tuna.
Believe it or not the bite has started across the pond in Bimini for wahoo. Several anglers went over last weekend and several fish in the 40 pound class were landed. Most boats that fished had 3 to 6 fish over a four hour span. We are feeling that the wahoo season will be in full swing earlier this year. Statistically and through our logbooks we know that October is really when they start biting.
The swordfish bite was still on this week. We boated a sword on a trip earlier this week with Osama from Dubai. We had several bites and landed a fish mid day aboard the "Lisa B". The fish that we caught ate a bonito strip just prior to a storm hitting us. We do notice that when there is a spike in the barometer just prior to getting hit with a thunderstorm the sword's love to eat! Over the years we have seen this happen many times.
As a reminder Mission Fishin' will be having its annual fundraiser/volunteer appreciation night called "Dock Party" on October 5 from 6-10pm at Galuppis in Pompano Beach. $50 is the ticket price for all you can eat, drink and live entertainment. This would be a perfect opportunity to get involved as a volunteer personally and or to donate your time and vessel during one of our monthly activities. There are also other opportunities to help families with special needs so please come join us!
