Rough Sea Conditions Should Improve the Fishing This Weekend

Rough Sea Conditions Should Improve the Fishing This Weekend
If you were bold enough to make a fishing trip this week you were greeted with spectacular fishing. Pictured here is a catch from Capt Ryan Goldman on a trip earlier this week. It is so wonderful to finally see some decent sized mahi-mahi off the coast. One thing that we are noticing is an increase in the amount of seaweed that is rolling through the area. With the added seaweed we are finding floaters such as pallets, pieces of debris and wood which seem to be holding fish. You must remember that in the summertime months we experience higher current flows to the north in the gulfstream. Winter time tides are much lighter than the summer. The north and northeast winds push against the current which slows the current down. This is why we see better mahi fishing in the summer due to the volume of water that is passing by our area. Farther near shore the kingfish bite and bonito bite was off the chain! This is the time when we start to see lots of bonito in our area. This bite should last for the next two months.
Lastly please check the weather and be careful in the afternoons as the storms have been rolling in with this heat.
