Swordfish and mahi well offshore is still the go to this weekend.

Pictured here is the Tom Robinson charter with a beautiful swordfish capture. As we said last week that swordfishing has been picking up and was consistent throughout the week. Several fish over 200 pounds were caught using both bonito and squid tentacles. The best depth of fishing for swordfish this week was in 1800 feet of water which is a little deeper than usual. Several swordfish anglers also lucked out as mahi-mahi we're continuously swimming up to the boat. Mahi-mahi is a definite by-catch while daytime swordfishing. We always keep at least two spinning rods with either a live bait or dead ballyhoo behind the boat just for this reason. You may not get a bite on a swordfish but it is sure nice to go home with some groceries so be sure to leave out those mahi rods while you're trying to catch the sword. The best of the bite was a little farther to the north off Boca and Delray What this means is the bait that is traveling through the area has probably moved a bit to the north. If you are swordfishing put your radio on channel 10 as that is where you can hear the anglers talking to each other.
Closer to shore the fishing was kind of slow this week. A few blackfin tuna, wahoo and kingfish made up most of the local catches. The best of the bight was in 125 to 150 feet of water and most fish were caught trolling.
We are probably going to see some storms this weekend. Before the storm arrives to the boat if it is possible to lower your antennas and or outriggers it sure can help eliminate a lightning strike. Always monitor channel 16 and let somebody know what time you will be back to the dock.
