Pictured here is Frank Navia aboard “Reel Busy” out of Hillsboro inlet with a beautiful mahi he caught offshore this week. This is the time to run and gun! There are patchy seaweed filled areas from 400 feet out to 20 miles off the coast. Keep your eyes peeled for birds and any floating debris that can hold fish. It would be nice if you could find or purchase some live bait to take with you.
We are approaching the full moon which means mahi will be a bit finicky because they will be eating at night. If you cannot find live bait you must lighten up your leaders and don’t be afraid to use fluorocarbon as light as 20 pound to get the bites.
Near shore the wahoo bite should be good around this full moon. We will be fishing planers with bonito strips rigs at around 8 knots. Do you need an up to date fishing report please call the shop at 954-420-5001.
