We will have plenty of onshore wind over the next few days which is going to increase your chances of  catching big mahi like the one pictured here. Most of the mahi have averaged 10 pounds with a few larger ones mixed in. The wahoo bite has still been on but the size of the fish has been a bit down averaging 12 to 15 pounds.

You always have a chance of catching a big one but this weeks local wahoo have been on the smaller side. One of the things I can tell you about smaller wahoo is that usually you catch them in multiples two or three at a time. It is so exciting for anglers to see three rods go off with wahoo at one time.

As for the rigs we are still using light flourocarbon 40 pound leader to be able to get the bite. Lots of these wahoo will not eat a wire leader especially in blue clean water.

Get tight!
