Seaweed Patches

Seaweed Patches

Pictured here is one of the giant seaweed patches that we encounter almost everyday we fish! We are experiencing a seaweed bloom worldwide which makes it difficult to fish.

Boats from St. Thomas to the Gulf of Mexico are complaining about this. If you are trolling baits it seems like you have to reel in your bait every few minutes to take off the grass. The last time we saw this was 8 years ago.

Believe it or not it is great for the ocean and fish. Seaweed creates ecosystems for fish, shrimp and many other organisms. The seaweed will soon be gone so let's just deal with it for now.
