Wahoo Weekend

Wahoo Weekend

High speed trolling for wahoo can be awesome when they are biting. For those days where the bite is off it can be one of the most frustrating fisheries of all time. Your energy level starts high but as your fuel tank needle begins to drop and the salt builds up on your glasses the tension starts to build. To add insult to injury seaweed moves into the area and your right arm is ready to fall off from cranking in weeds. Now imagine running 100 miles to just put the lures out and experiencing what I mentioned above. That is just what we did two weeks ago in the Wahoo Smackdown tournament operating out of Bimini. On the second day of the tournament we ran to Cay Sal bank hoping to catch a ton of fish. All of the traveling distance and fuel lead us to one wahoo. We drove the 100 miles back to Bimini dejected and beat up. We watched as others weighed their fish. After all was said and done we weighed our one wahoo and guess what? We caught the biggest fish in the tournament with a field of 30 top notch crews!!! We had no idea that we had even come close! At times luck plays a huge part in fishing. Thank you God for giving us that winning fish.
Happy Thanksgiving.
