A Halloween to Remember
Last week we ran over to Bimini to see if we could catch a wahoo or two. Conditions were perfect as we had flat calm seas and light winds. We left Hillsboro inlet at 6am and arrived in Bimini at around 8am. We cleared customs and reserved a room for the night. We started wahoo fishing at around 12pm and fished until 4pm. We had 6 bites and caught 4 wahoo up to 70lbs. The method of fishing was high speed trolling with lures at around 14 knots. There is nothing like a wahoo bite going that speed. We returned to Bimini for the night. We knew we didn't have lots of time to fish the next day as we had to be back for trick or treat festivities. We began deep dropping at around 8 and caught a dozen nice yellow eye snappers off of Cat Key. We started to head for home happy with what we had until we neared the swordfish grounds. We decided to make one drop for a sword and could you believe it only took 3 minutes to get one hooked up. We fought the fish for around twenty minutes before boating him. We all screamed and hugged for the entire ride in thinking about what a trip it had been. It truly was a happy halloween.
We fished aboard the boat "Encore" owned by Jamie Bunn.
