Back Side of the Moon Wahoo Bite is Red Hot!
This week has been absolutely off the chain when it comes to wahoo fishing. Whether you are locally fishing from The Keys to Palm Beach or in the Bahamas, the bite has been epic. Pictured here is Sean Parker with a stud Wahoo pushing 70 pounds. We should see several of these weighed in at a tournament we are fishing this weekend in Bimini. The Slicker wahoo tournament already has over 30 entries from some of the best local boats. With a 100 mile boundary, boats will spread out all over and travel from Great Harbor to Orange key to West End. The tournament is positioned on a great moon phase just several days after the full. Most boats in the tournament will be high speed lure fishing while a few will slow down and fish bait and be trolling planers. There are two categories in the tournament. A big fish division and a cumulative 5 fish overall weight division.
We will see great weather this weekend locally. Wahoo and swordfish should be on the menu for boats traveling offshore. Several nice swordfish were caught farther north this week up to Palm Beach so consider fishing a bit farther north and deep out to 1800. Squid tentacles seem to be the magic bait right now for swords. If you need rigged or unrigged bait please contact us at the store.
