Big Snappers are Here

Big Snappers are Here

This weekend take the boat out to 75 feet of water and anchor. Bring at least a case of chum, 2 one pound boxes of squid, and 3 light tackle spinning reels. We should have a north current this weekend which is perfect for yellowtail snappers. Cut the squid into small pieces and drift them back into the chumslick on a 1/8 ounce jig head. It usually takes around 30 minutes for the tails to fire up so don't get frustrated. Once they start biting make sure to shake that chum bag every 30 seconds and keep that chum flowing. You can bring the snappers right to the back of the boat if you keep the chum going. An average yellowtail weighs between 1 and 3 pounds. If you need any pointers give us a call at the shop.

Get tight!!
