Blackfin Tuna Time Out Front!

Blackfin Tuna Time Out Front!

Pictured here left to right is Matt and Stephen Seal with a pair of blackfin tuna caught earlier this week. The blackfin bite is absolutely off the chain! The best of it is in the early morning hours and late afternoon. For the best bite use live bait such as pilchards and goggle eyes. These fish were caught out of the kite in 130 to 200 feet of water. The one thing I can tell you is that the seaweed has been brutal which makes it a bit difficult to drift so if you do have a sea anchor make sure to bring one to slow the drift. You also really want to look for clean blue water. You can catch them in the slightly green water but the cleaner blue water is definitely advantageous when it comes to tuna. What makes it so fun right now is we are also catching mahi-mahi and kingfish along with an occasional sailfish while we are drifting for the tuna. What a great time to get out there and go fishing!

It looks like we have a beautiful Memorial Day weekend so let’s get out there and get tight. Thanks to all who gave their service to our country.
