This is a catch from the Fish City Pride earlier this week. Many of their catches were filled with kingfish and snapper. They drift with flat lines or light lead that suspends the bait up towards the surface where they catch most of the big kings and sailfish.

On the down rods they fish with a heavier lead with longer leaders near the bottom for snapper and grouper.

Try starting your drift out in 130 feet of water and drift in to 50 feet. On the down rods drop to the bottom and once you hit bottom reel up a few feet and wait for the bite.

You should recheck bottom every few minutes. It’s a great time of the year to catch a mixed bag while drifting and it is relaxing!

Have Fun!
