Giant Bluefin Tuna On Our Annual Trip

Giant Bluefin Tuna On Our Annual Trip

Pictured here is a giant bluefin tuna that we caught yesterday off of Cape Cod. We are on our annual summertime trip to the northeast in search of these prize fish. They say it's better to be lucky than good. We hooked this fish five minutes after deploying the baits. We hooked this fish in 90 feet of water and caught it after about an hour and a half. We usually come up and fish with several different captains to experience, see and learn new techniques. We are lucky enough to fish with some of the best guys in the tuna fish game and this year has been no different. Captain John Crothier aboard the "Shearwater" out of Stage Harbor Marine in Chatham, MA is considered one of the best in the business. He has a beautiful boat and top-notch tackle. Please reach out to us if you'd like to do a trip and we can line it up for you.

Swordfishing picked up a bit this week as John Lavergne caught a few nice ones out of Hillsboro Inlet. His bait of choice was the squid tentacle. The best of the bite was it in 1700 feet of water a few miles south of Hillsboro inlet.

There was a few nice mahi-mahi caught this week finally! Captain Mike Busse put some Charter clients on quite a few gaffers. This is a great sign for the upcoming week.

The charter boats were picking at blackfin tuna and kingfish with an occasional wahoo. Please tune in to 105.9 the Paul Castronovo show Friday morning at 6:35 AM for an up-to-the-minute fishing report.

Get tight!
