Giant Swordfish Are Being Caught Right Off Lighthouse Point!

Giant Swordfish Are Being Caught Right Off Lighthouse Point!
Pictured here is the 700-pound swordfish caught a few days back by John Bassett and Jake Richards off of Lighthouse Point. As I said last week, this is the time when we start to see the giant swords here as the migration pattern pushes fish right off our Inlet. This fish was caught in 1680 feet of water on an eel. There were several fish landed over the 300-pound mark this week and the fishing should continue to be great all the way through the next several months.
Farther near shore the wahoo bite was excellent this week with several fish pushing 50 pounds. We are still seeing skipjack tuna which is a great sign for big Wahoo. If you're looking to catch sailfish, this weekend would be a good time as the little cold front that pushed through will get the fish moving. The best of the sailfish bites this week was 160 feet of water of Highland Beach. While your fishing for sails don't forget to put down a mutton snapper rod as the snapper bite has been insane as well.
Tis the season! Season is in full swing for lots of different species. For an up-to-the-minute fishing report tune in to 105.9 the Paul Castronovo fishing show on Friday morning at 6:35 AM or give us a call at the shop at 954-420-5001.
