Local Anglers Have Bent the Rod All Week!

Local Anglers Have Bent the Rod All Week!
It sure was a wonderful week to be an angler off Hillsboro inlet. Local fishermen were greeted with excellent fishing throughout the entire week. Catches of mahi-mahi, blackfin tuna, kingfish and sailfish were the norm every day this week. You must remember that the bag limit for kingfish is two fish per person per day. The best of the kingfishing was in 100 feet of water this week while the tuna bite was much deeper at around 275 feet.

The mutton snapper bite was off the chain around the local wrecks as the full moon provided the perfect conditions for the snapper spawn. Several local boats also traveled to Bimini for the mutton snapper spawn. Nighttime fishing for the snapper was excellent but one report noted that the fishing during the day was affected by sharks. Once the sharks find you it is difficult to get a snapper to the boat.

We should have a great weekend of weather and the fishing should remain consistent. Swordfishing offshore may be your best bet on the backside of the moon right now. Fish weighing up to 300 pounds should hit the dock this weekend.

Check the weather!
