Mahi Mixed In
On a trip earlier this week we caught a nice bull dolphin right off Boca Raton. This fish ate a trolled Bonita strip in 140 feet of water. We also caught a big blackfin tuna and our limit of kingfish up to 12 pounds. The bonito bite sure has slowed down as we are transitioning into a new fishing season. Over the next few months we will see an increase and wahoo and sailfish catches.
As the Caribbean and Bahamas are experiencing storms as well as is the Gulf of Mexico you may encounter floating debris well offshore. The reason that we are seeing floating debris here is due to the gulfstream current that carries it northward. Several boats fishing this week caught limits of mahi-mahi up to 30 pounds.
Keep a sharp lookout for anything floating and don’t forget to drop down a jig for a Wahoo underneath the debris.
Good luck!
