Pictured here is the Cook charter with a beautiful swordfish caught earlier this week. There are two consistent catches right now offshore, Swordfish and seaweed. Mixed into the swordfish catch were eight nice mahi-mahis. The current was especially strong as we were somewhat lucky hooking this fish with lots of line out. In the summertime historically we see the most current off our coast. During the wintertime we get northeast winds which hold back the gulf stream and cause a slower current and easier fishing for swords in the deep water. This charter was from California and traveled here to home their swordfish skills. They went home with technique and plenty of fish.
The nearest shore fishing was quite slow this week with an occasional kingfish, blackfin tuna and sailfish. The weather continues to look good for the weekend but be sure to check the radar for storms and or give us a call at the store and we will give you an up to the minute fishing report.
