Try a new spot!

Try a new spot!

If you listened to the fishing reports over the last 2 to 3 weeks you would know that the sailfish bite has been tough. Many guys have spent countless hours fishing areas which usually produce large numbers of sailfish this time of the year.

Most guys search for a nice section of water preferably blue outside of green water. Historically this is where you will find traveling sailfish and the depth of water usually is around 120-200 feet.

Having a tackle store and talking to everyone on this coast regarding their catches I can enlighten you as to the whereabouts of these sailfish. Boats fishing in green shallow water and not fishing for sailfish have had nothing but sailfish reports all week! One boat had a sailfish on all 6 rods multiple times and he was fishing in 85 feet of water. Something to consider is that sailfish swim all the way into the beach and feed on ballyhoo in the winter.

Think outside the box and try something different and remember just because the water is green on top doesn't mean it's green underneath.

Pictured here is my buddy Alex and his family from Brazil fishing aboard "Off the Hook"with Mike "Tarmello" Tarmey out of Lighthouse Point earlier this week.
