Summer is usually the best time for mahi mahi fishing but this year seems a bit different. We are seeing dolphin fish being caught in as close as 60 feet of water. We are also catching them 20 miles out in the Gulfstream. The average fish has been around ten pounds but we have caught several over 20 pounds.

Pictured here is the local Longaro family with a wonderful catch of mahi from earlier in the week. We found a frigate bird hovering over a floating piece of wood well offshore.

This bird kept diving down so we know something was going on. When we trolled past the floating wood all hell broke loose and every rod bent over. What a trip it was with smiles all around!
