Wahoo Are Still Snapping Off Hillsboro
The Bouck charter from yesterday's trip aboard the Lisa B out of Lighthouse Point, Florida is pictured here. A great catch on a four-hour trip, three wahoo and several black fin tuna were caught. Multiple boats also caught several wahoo this week. The forecast for this weekend looks mighty sporty, so it's recommended to check the weather before heading out. The best bite has been from 180 feet out to 275 feet. Pink and crystal-colored lure, fished in combination with a bonito strip, was the best color for catching wahoo this week. With lots of Southeast wind, choppy seas should be expected but a good bite near shore. A few nice Mahi were also caught this week.
It is an exciting time of the year for shrimpers! With all of the Southeast wind, record numbers of not only shrimp but also shrimpers have been seen in the inlet. In a 2-3 hour span on the incoming tide, anglers were able to come close to filling a 5-gallon bucket with beautiful shrimp. The Southeast wind should continue through the weekend, providing perfect conditions for shrimping on the incoming tide. It is recommended to have a dip net and an underwater light.
