Windy Conditions Shake Up The Local Fishing

Windy Conditions Shake Up The Local Fishing

Pictured here are a few nice catches aboard the "Lisa B" out of Lighthouse Point this week. We had a small cold front come through mid-week which turned on the wahoo bite. Along with the wahoo we boated some larger blackfin tuna. The best of the bite was in around 250 feet of water and the best lure color was pink and crystal fished in combination with an extra-large bonito strip.
The kingfish bite was also consistent farther near shore in around 100 feet of water. We are noticing lots of baitfish around which is really helping our local fishing. Anglers were catching fish all week with the abundance of bait. Local charter boats using live bait were also catching plenty of sailfish fish from the kite.

As a reminder the mutton snapper bite is only going to improve over the next few weeks. We actually caught a mutton snapper on the troll this week which is extremely rare but a great sign that they are showing up. This big snapper was caught on a bonito strip fished on the long planer rod in 125 feet of water.

The weekend weather looks a bit choppy so please check the forecast before heading offshore.
