Yellowfin Tuna Bite is Happening Between Bimini and Lucaya. Shrimp Are Running in the Local Inlets!
The yellowfin tuna bite in the Northwest Providence Channel is underway as we speak. Several boats over the past two weeks have encountered plenty of schools of tuna fish. Some fish were caught back behind Lucaya while other guys caught them out front closer to Great Isaacs. The average size of the fish has been around 40 pounds. The bite should stay good for tuna over the next few months. Live bait is by far the best way to catch these fish fished from a long fluorocarbon 60lb leader. Goggle eye and pilchard are two of the best live bait for the yellowfin.Â

Closer to home the weather was a bit rough, but the fishing was excellent for wahoo. One angler out of Lighthouse Point boated four wahoo on a morning trip Wednesday. The ocean has been churned up with heavy seas, but the fishing should remain good through the weekend. Look out for a good Mahi Mahi bite on the reef.

We did have a good report of the shrimp running on the incoming tide with the east wind this week. The moon is still relatively big so if we do get more of that east wind be sure to give the shrimp a try in either Boca or Hillsboro inlet.
